Marcos Calderón MD.
As 2017 IHCH President, I join the members of the Gala Committee in inviting you to become an underwriter of the annual Gala, which will be held on Friday, November 17, at 6:30 at the Astorian Ballroom. Since its founding in 1967, the IHCH has sponsored one of Houston's most elegant and well attended fundraising galas, Noche de las Americas (Night of the Americas). The proceeds from this gala are used to provide the funds for the scholarship and cultural programs as well as to provide basic funds to defray the operational costs of the IHCH site. It is estimated that over $500,000. has been given since the first IHCH scholarship was awarded to a Houston student to study classical guitar in Spain.
The Institute of Hispanic Culture of Houston, Inc. (IHCH), a non-for-profit organization incorporated in the State of Texas, is dedicated to the understanding and dissemination of Hispanic Culture through a wide range of programs and initiatives in cooperation with Houston's universities, colleges, professional and cultural institutions and organizations. The IHCH sponsors or co-sponsors Hispanic lectures, theatrical performances, concerts, art exhibits, classes, films and community cultural events.
The IHCH mission and goals are fulfilled by dedicated and loyal volunteer members, who provide leadership and support to the many programs. These are presented, not only at the IHCH site, but at various universities, colleges and City of Houston cultural sites, such as the annual performance of the Dia de la Hispanidad (Day of the Hispanic World) in Miller Free Outdoor Theatre, which attracts audiences of over 5000 persons.
Underwriters of the Gala will be recognized during an evening of elegant dining, music and dance. An exciting display of auction items will also be available for the pleasure of all guests. Please see the attached sponsorship forms. Underwriting this event will ensure the continued success of the IHCH mission, which is why the City of Houston is well known for its diverse, cultural and educational life.
